Open letter to the Academy...Are you high?
This was an OK movie.
OK --- as in not "WOW!"
The "Picture of the Year" should, in my opinion, leave you with a sense of "Wow! That was an AWSOME movie!"
This didn't even come close.
I know you folks saw "Gone Baby Gone"...that was a WOW movie.
I was really dissapointed with this movie (having won the "Best Picture of the Year" and all).

Columbia TriStar : Sony Pictures
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Pete Travis
Cast: Dennis Quaid, William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver, Forest Whitaker, Matthew Fox...
“Eight strangers with eight different points of view...”
We don't need to see all eight. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the movie, except the movie is the trailer played five times (over and over and over...).
This seemed like an intriguing concept for a movie, but after seeing the rewind a couple of times you begin wonder when the movie is going to move forward. I suppose maybe there was some savings to the production costs (probably not).

Warner Bros
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Tony Gilroy
Cast: George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton, Sydney Pollack...
I wasn't sure what this movie was about going into it. The trailers didn't really explain much. The acting was good but, now that I've seen it, I'm still not sure what it was about.

Miramax Films
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Ben Affleck
Cast: Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, John Ashton...
Is doing the “right” thing always the “best” thing to do?
Is doing the “wrong” thing always the “worst” thing to do?As good an actor as Ben Affleck is, this film demonstrates he is a better director.
One can only hope this isn't a fluke.
This is a “must see” movie.

New Line Cinema
MPAA Rating: PG
Director: Menno Meyjes
Cast: John Cusack, Bobby Coleman, Amanda Peet, Joan Cusack, Sophie Okonedo, Oliver Platt...
“Is it good to be like ev'rybody else?”
“That is a good question.”John Cusack has certainly come a long way from his “teen flick” years, taking on more serious roles (ie 1408) and doing well with them.
A wonderful movie about recovering from emotional pain and reconnecting with life.
